What's Up?

by Jim Gerrish

Congratulations! If this is your first hardboard and duct tape magic prop, and you successfully created a prop for your magic show that you can actually USE, you’ll be happy to know that most of the other props used in this book use many of the same skills you just mastered. Some may take a little longer to build than others, but work at your own pace and by the time you finish Book 1, you’ll have a good 30 to 45 minute Magic Show just with your own props that you’ve built.

That's how the instructions for this trick ENDS, for those of you who like to read the endings of books first.

While describing a job he used to have painting road signs, the magician demonstrates some of the difficulties of being a magical sign painter. First the arrow points one way, and then it points the other. At the end of the routine, the sign opens up and displays a surprise ending, with several choices available, including one used by Milbourne Christopher in a former commercial version (no longer available) of the prop.
