Dove to Silk Mat
by Professor Spellbinder
Before you buy any
Dollar Store instructions, go to your local Dollar Store (Quid
Store in the U.K.) and make sure you can get the ingredients. Not
all Dollar Stores are alike and you may have to hunt through
several to find just what you need to make these magic props.

For this effect you will need to buy EITHER
two striped or plaid table placemats made of cloth and
"hollow" like pillows that have been sewn around on all
sides ...
... OR buy THREE table runners (sometimes
used for centerpieces like a large long doily to decorate the
table and protect it). If the Dollar Store has iron-on tape for
fusing cloth together, buy a roll of that, OTHERWISE you will
either have to be able to sew OR go to a sewing stroe and buy the
fusion tape that allows you to iron two pieces of cloth material
together.
You will also need a live dove or any of
the substitutes described below, and a silk, or any of the
substitutes described below, MOST of which will NOT be found in a
Dollar Store.
Then you will be able to use these
instructions to convert your materials into a banner that will
transform a live dove into a silk handkerchief OR a small plush
animal into a silk handkerchief OR a dove into a rope OR a red
silk into a blue silk OR a dove into gloves OR a dove into a
flower (or flowers) and so on. Transforming small objects by
tossing them up into the air is exactly what this Dove to
Silk Mat does best!
BONUS DOVE PRODUCTION EFFECTS with
reed-style Japanese Table Mats are also included, so if you feel
rich, stock up on more of them and make even more killer effects,
but don't use all of these effects in the same show! It will just
look too matty! You can even make a Dove Color Changing Mat -
sort of like a Dove caught in the middle of a Blendo!
